Hi All,
I'm pleased to announce the publication of my latest novel, The Far Side of the Dream. It's really something quite different from my other novels. Check it out. You can visit me on Amazon.com or correspond directly by email at ghstwn1@aol.com.
Here's a brief description:
Part coming of age, part historical fiction, part adventure, this is a story of grit and determination that only dire circumstances can inspire. Set in the 1840’s, The Far Side of the Dream brings to life the story of 15-year-old Elsbeth whose dreams of husband, home and family vanish in one heated moment with the handsome stranger, Billy Brooster. Elsbeth is pregnant. Disowned by an irate and unforgiving father, she finds herself on the Emigrants’ Road, banished to the Oregon Territory and an arranged marriage to a total stranger. Her dreams for the future are shattered and the unknowns of a new life in the West are daunting. As she travels westward, Elsbeth journeys toward maturity and searches for love and security on her own terms. Along the way she makes mistakes, confronts danger, disappointment and loss. She faces the rigors of traveling on the road to Oregon and later the uncertainties of rough and tumble towns springing up in the wake of the California rush for gold. Complications arise in the form of Billy Brooster. What does she make of his sudden reappearance into her life and how will he shape her destiny?

After reading a post on the facebook "McHenry Remembers" page about John Vycital, I did a search for our classmate Ron Vycital.
This is what I found with an include picture of Ron.
https://www.weremember.com/ronald-vycital/2n2s/memories
The article states that he was raised in McHenry and graduated from High School there. . . . So that's our Ron.
He was in band with me and was in our little woodwind quartet that went to State competition. We spend many hours together in preparation for that competition where we did very well.
Ron was a straight up all around good guy.
RIP Ron
Bob Lombardi
